We would like to welcome parents/guardians and children to the club and hope that this information will give you some information about the junior section at Edwardians.
Our club aims to foster a welcoming, friendly, safe and a sporting environment for everyone so they can enjoy learning and playing rugby.
All coaches either hold or are pursuing RFU Coaching Qualifications and are CRB checked, we welcome parents/guardians to all training and competitions and value their support. We are always very keen to try and involve parents/guardians in our club and rugby; we could not function without this so if you feel you can help in any way either on the coaching or administrative side, please have a word with your child's coach or any club member.

Training
Junior Rugby coaching for ages 5 to 17 is on a Sunday morning, 10.30am to 12:30pm. Matches can be at home or away and we are reliant on the support of parents and carers in assisting with transport if away, as well as cheering on the team! Details of any future training or matches are given by the coach, so it is important that children attend all sessions.
Rugby is a winter sport, so all children should wear plenty of clothing to keep warm and appropriate clothing plus a towel for wet conditions, but be aware that the clothing is likely to get muddy and even damaged. All players will need to wear boots, football boots are fine but they should have a moulded stud sole or have screw in studs. It has been recommended by the governing bodies of Rugby that all players wear gum shields, the RFU and Edwardian Football Club endorse this, ask your dentist for more information.
Club Shirts are loaned to all members upon payment of their annuals subscription, but every player needs to provide their own blue Rugby shorts and club socks, these and any other clothing and equipment can be purchased from the Club.
Subscriptions and Registration
There is an annual membership fee for players, currently £25 payable in September, this includes affiliation to the RFU, which provides insurance for children whilst training and playing. A weekly match/training fee of £3.00 is also payable.
Child Protection
Edwardian Football Club (Rugby Union) takes the safety of children very seriously and has a child protection policy in place. If a parent/guardian or child has any concerns, they should discuss the matter in complete confidence with their coach or the designated child welfare officer.
Junior Club Rules
Edwardian Football Club (Rugby Union) is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well being of all its members. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches administrators and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect, encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club.
As a member of Edwardian Football Club, you are expected to abide by the following junior rules:
All members must play within the rules, respect officials, and their decisions.
All members must respect their opponents.
Members should keep to agreed timings and competitions or inform their coach or administrator if they are going to be late or cannot attend.
Members must wear suitable kit for training and match sessions as agreed with the coach.
Members must pay their annual subscription and match/training fees promptly.
Junior members are not allowed to smoke on club premises or whilst representing the club at competitions.
Junior members are not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on the club premises or whilst representing the club.
